About Baan Panya

A Place of Knowledge,
Built on Patience

Baan Panya — meaning "House of Wisdom" in Thai — was founded with a single purpose: to give adults over 40 an honest, accessible grounding in the financial decisions that matter most in later life.

Our Story

How Baan Panya Began

Baan Panya was established in Bangkok in 2016 by a small group of financial educators who had spent years watching older adults struggle to make sense of complex products sold to them without adequate explanation. They saw people sign annuity contracts they did not fully understand. They saw friends and family members lose savings to elaborate phone scams. They believed something needed to change.

Rather than offering financial advice — which carries its own regulatory complexity — they set out to teach. Programs were designed from scratch with adult learners in mind: unhurried, non-technical in language, and grounded in the Thai financial context rather than imported from abroad.

Today, Baan Panya operates from its centre in Wang Thonglang and has welcomed more than 420 participants across its programs. The teaching approach has been refined through each cohort, but the core commitment has not shifted: to help people understand their own situation more clearly, and to feel more settled about decisions ahead.

Our Mission

To offer clear, honest financial education that empowers adults in Thailand's later life chapters to make well-considered decisions without relying on a sales relationship to do so.

Our Values

Patience. Clarity. Respect for the learner's pace and experience. We believe financial understanding should feel like a conversation, not a lecture — and never like a pitch.

Our Approach

All content is grounded in Thailand-specific products, regulations, and cultural context. Sessions are small by design, and every participant is given space to ask questions without time pressure.

Our Standards

How We Maintain Quality

Quality at Baan Panya is measured by how well participants understand and retain what they learn — not by enrolment numbers.

Reviewed Curriculum

Program content is reviewed and updated at least twice annually to reflect changes in Thai financial products, regulations, and prevalent fraud methods.

Small Cohort Sizes

Group sessions are capped to ensure every participant has adequate time to ask questions, review materials, and engage meaningfully with the content.

Participant Privacy

Personal information shared during sessions remains strictly confidential. We hold no financial account data and do not share participant details with any third party.

Product-Neutral Stance

Baan Panya holds no commercial relationships with financial product providers. Our educators do not receive commissions or referral payments of any kind.

Written Materials

Participants receive printed summaries after each session. The comprehensive program concludes with a personalized financial roadmap document participants keep.

Participant Feedback

Every program ends with a structured feedback form. Results inform the next round of curriculum improvements and help us understand where participants want more clarity.

Financial Education in Bangkok for Adults Over 40

Adults approaching their mid-life and later years in Thailand face a genuinely complex financial landscape. Annuity products, pension insurance policies, and investment-linked schemes are marketed heavily to this demographic — often by well-intentioned but commercially motivated advisors. At the same time, phone-based and online financial fraud targeting older adults has grown significantly in recent years across Bangkok and the wider country.

Baan Panya occupies a particular space: a place of structured learning rather than advisory services. The distinction matters. Our educators explain how products work, how to compare them, and what questions to ask — without directing participants toward any specific provider. This separation of education from commerce is central to how we operate.

Our Wang Thonglang centre has hosted participants from across Bangkok, as well as from Chiang Mai and Phuket who have made the journey specifically for the Complete Life-Stage program. Sessions are conducted in English, with Thai language support available on request. All pricing is in Thai Baht, and all product examples are drawn from the Thai market.

For adults who want to approach their later financial years with greater clarity and less reliance on others to make decisions for them, Baan Panya offers a considered, unhurried path to that understanding.
